Well, i had an interesting weekend. I DID I DID.
My plans seem to change rapidly, like the blazing fires of Orange County.
Where to begin???
hmm...
On saturday me and my Lovely Salina hit the road. Heading to L.A (i live in L.A, drive to bakersfield to pick her up, then bring her to walk to sweet/dirty streets of Hollywood)
Our plans were to arrive in L.A at noon, walk around melrose, grab a bite to eat, then head over to my place to watch a UFC event with my bro and Fam.
THAT DIDNT HAPPEN.
As i awoke on Saturday i got a voicemail from my mother warning me that there were some fires going on near one of the freeways i take back to L.A. My 1st instinct was to check the news and see if any of the freeways were going to be shut down. THEY WERE.
But, being the stubburn humaniod that i am, i knew there would be a detour back to L.A and that we might be adding atleast an hour to our already 1hr 30min trip. So, we went for IT! Salina got behind the wheel and for the 1st 30min seem to FLY past the other cars, the road looked more that perfect with no sign of bad traffic. That was until we reached the fires. The detour lead us to a freeway that i thought would be a breeze. get us to our destination quick. I was wrong...SOOO WRONG. The traffic was like a turtle barely walking up and suffering from the flu. IT WAS SUPER SLOW!! we inched our way on the highway. We had been on the road for almost 3hrs. We keep our composure for the greater part of the trip. That was until i realized we werent going to make it to L.A in time for the fighting event, let alone to shop, let alone EAT!. At one point salina put the car in PARK and jumped in the back seat while i(in the passenger seat) leaped to the drivers seat. All while in traffic. It was a swift/smooth move. Although i do recall my arm getting in the way of salina's foot while she jumped in the back...or vice versa.
I thought long and hard...i made the decsion to head back to where we started. BAKERSFIELD CA. i was utterly disapointed. More over i knew my brother was looking forward to watching this event with me(as was i). It has become a tradition with me and him to watch UFC event at my apartment with my dad(if he's not out of town watching over my grandmother). I felt horrible, not only physically for being stuck in a slow moving vehicle over 4hrs, but because i didnt make it to L.A.
on the lighter side, busting a U-turn on the highway felt great. The traffic heading back was clear as clear can be.
I actually learned alot being on the road. Learn to listen to my gut feelings....and to take HEALTHIER snacks for road trips. Pringles and salsa picante Corn nuts just will not cut it for me and salina anymore....i think we hit sodium delirium at one point in our trip....atleast i know i did...
